Internships

Summers 2008, 2008, 2010

During college, I was lucky enough to have three summer internship experiences - one for each summer between freshman and senior year. I used this time to determine the type of work environment I wanted for my post-college career, Goldi-locks style.

  • Nonprofit - Too uneven: work extremely hard to accomplish small wins - valiant and important but not a fit for my work style; better to volunteer at and donate to nonprofits than build a career with them.
  • Small business - Too narrow: close relationships and specific activities, but not a lot of variance, which I need to keep my focus and my interest.
  • Big business - Just right: I love being an impactful cog in a big machine! Make those connections! Build those processes! Watch those gears turn!

Bates College

2008 - Present

  • Alumni in Admissions - Interviews are critical to the Bates College application process and alumni like me perform local interviews for students who cannot get to campus. I don’t love that the age gap keeps getting wider but I still love being an active participant in the success of my alma mater.
  • Student Communications Coordinator - I organized and managed student-led phone-a-thons for prospective and accepted students. (There was always pizza.)
  • Teachers Assistant: Presidential Campaign Rhetoric - ASK ME ABOUT THIS; SO FUN!

EDUCATION

SKILLS

(AKA what I am knowledgeable enough to speak about at length and actually say something meaningful.)

This is a website about me, so of course I want to highlight my strengths, but we’re all constantly evolving (I personally learn best by teaching or advising others) so it’s important to evaluate ourselves and identify areas of potential growth. And since we’re our own worst critics, I asked a few colleagues to help me create a baseline (where 0% is knows nothing and 100% is super expert / should teach a master class on the subject).
